Fantastic news: The NLHI-Hartenbank has received a grant of 700,000 euros from the Hartstichting for the follow-up phase! After successfully completing the start-up phase of the NLHI-Hartenbank, the Hartstichting has awarded this grant.

This will allow us to take even bigger steps in the coming years to make cardiovascular tissue and related data available for medical scientific research. Coordinator of the NLHI-Hartenbank Michiel Henkens says: “In the coming years, together with our partners, we will also make heart and vascular tissue available that comes from, for example, heart and vascular surgeries, such as heart transplants, and from autopsies performed in Dutch hospitals. Furthermore, currently only adults aged 18 or older can donate their heart and vascular tissue to us. Unfortunately, cardiovascular diseases also occur in younger people. Given the demand from the research field, we will explore whether we can also make this tissue available at the request of donors and parents.”
