What is the Hartenbank?
The Hartenbank is a central biobank that collects and stores heart tissue from deceased donors for scientific research. This heart tissue is used to study how a healthy heart functions precisely and what exactly goes wrong in various heart diseases. Zo kunnen we ziekten eerder en/of beter vaststellen en betere behandelingen mogelijk maken. Als mensen zich als donor bij de Hartenbank registreren, geven zij toestemming om hun hart na overlijden te laten opnemen in deze biobank.
